Our vision is to become as synonymous for what we do in adventure sports as GoPro for Cameras, Oakley for eyewear or Strava for tracking.

As we develop our insurance platform for our B2C products and for licensing with B2B partners, we need a technically excellent and highly motivated individual who is experienced in all aspect of DevOps. You will be responsible for implementing the tools, processes, performance and security that will enable Bikmo to become the global market leader in our sector.

Insurance experience is not required - we're looking for a candidate who will challenge previously held views of how insurance companies operate, in favour of utilising our technology to deliver exceptional products and services to our customers and partners.

This is an initial 3-month position to bring our DevOps up to scratch then we will require part-time ongoing support.

The role Reporting to the CTO, during the initial 3 month phase you will be responsible for;

  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
  • Establish ways to automate and improve development and release processes
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
  • Identify technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
  • Establish a testing regime to test and examine code written by others, analyse results and take actions
  • Server management including autoscaling, performance and back ups across multiple territories and products
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to the engineering team for planning and implementing new applications or upgrades to existing applications
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
  • Set up regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Optimise for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery
  • Consult with peers for feedback during testing stages

Skills and experiences

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • System administration and IT certifications in related fields are a plus
  • Working knowledge of virtualisation, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols

Salary + benefits This role initially a 3-month a full time role at 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting asap. The ongoing requirement will be determined during this 3-month period.

The candidate must be UK based but given current lockdown restrictions, we expect the full duration of the initial 3-month period to be undertaken remotely. Ongoing support can also be remote subject to a successful initial project.
